The Engineering Department is looking to fill the role of Process Technician in the Lee’s Summit, Missouri facility. There are four classifcations of Process Technician with "Process Technician Trainee" and advancing to classifications "C", "B" and "A". The progressions are a combination of time (Experience) and the Process Technicians ability to demonstrate specific skills. The Process Technician is responsible for logically troubleshooting basic molding problems and effectively communicating processing and or mold/machine issues, both verbally and in writing. The Lee's Summit facility is one of the primary manufacturing sites for producing customized thin-wall injection molded containers, lids, overcaps and custom packaging solutions for branded and private label food and consumer product companies all over the world. Position Title: Process Technician
Location: Lee’s Summit, Missouri
What you will bring to the role:
A reliable, dependable candidate who will bring a team player mindset with the ability to work autonomously as needed.
The successful candidate will:
- Have prior work experience at a Process Technician level of "C" or higher or 5 years of external related job experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to use all QA lab instruments, understand and demonstrate knowledge of QA procedural requirements.
- Demonstrate "Mold Management Skills" by performing mold shutdowns, mold startups, tip heater replacement, nozzle tip replacement, thermocouple replacement, split molds, and ability to assist with mold changes.
- Demonstrate ability to shut down and or restart any mold and machine combination as well as provide working knowledge of all mold components and disassemble and reassemble any mold.
- Understand and have the ability to perform basic electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs.
- Demonstrate ability to read basic hydraulic and electrical schematics and mold drawings.
- Have the ability to learn to operate support machinery and learn to operate the railcar pumps, all stacking equipment, as well as the Novatec system, which includes effective product color changes, and ability to start up the mechanical room.
- Demonstrate thin wall molding skills with sufficient thin wall injection molding knowledge to work independently, make diagnostic evaluations, problem-solve processing issues, and produce moldings consistent with all quality standards.
- Be able to adapt to changes in the work environment and prioritize job demands.
- Be flexible as requested by the department supervisor/lead to changing job requirements, including occasional overtime needs and work-shift schedules to support work activities or for covering other employee vacations/absences.
- Be able to maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Support housekeeping and hygiene policies as well as follow GMP, SQF and other company policies and protocols.
- Have the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and prioritize job demands.
- Be flexible as requested by the department supervisor/lead to changing job requirements, including occasional overtime needs and work-shift schedules to support work activities or for covering other employee vacations/absences.
- Participate in all company sponsored training activities, including, on the job training which is primarily conducted Monday - Friday during the day. At management's discretion, Process Technicians whose normal schedule is on an off shift must alter their schedule when on the job training is conducted.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
Additional requirements:
Candidate must be able to pass a Post Offer Essential Function Test (POET) and an Occupational Examination to demonstrate the capability to safety perform the essential function of the job to include:
- Vision Test
- Hearing Test
- Dexterity Test on Wrists, Grip, and Pinch (grip must be within the gender and age requirements for each candidate tested)
- Lifting test to confirm ability to lift 50 lbs. from ankle, knee, and chest height to a level of ground, 35” and 55” height
- Push/Pull test to confirm ability to move 80 lbs. to confirm ability to move product via an assisted device in our facility
