YWCA Hartford Region is seeking a Head Teacher for our Toddler classroom to join our team!

Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours will fall within the hours of operation: 6:45 a.m. -5:45 pm
37.5 hours per week

Duties

Provide a supportive, respectful, safe and healthy environment for children enrolled in YWCA Early Learning Centers. Plan and manage the delivery of age appropriate programs and activities that foster the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of the children enrolled in the program.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Assists Site Manager with supervision, training and evaluation of assistant teachers and volunteers.

Work Environment:
The job operates in an office setting as well as Early Childhood Education and School Age program settings. The employee will interact with children from 8 weeks to 5 years old on occasion .

Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, typically working Monday through Friday; scheduled hours will vary between 6:45 AM and 6:15 PM.

Travel:
Depending on enrollment employees may be asked to provide support to other Early Learning Centers occasionally.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor?s Degree in Early Childhood, Sociology or Education or minimum of 12 Early childhood Education Credits
2. Minimum of 1 year of work experience in an educational setting with children.
3. Connecticut State Office of Early Childhood Head Teacher Certificate, or the ability/qualifications to obtain one.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum planning;
5. Strong knowledge of child development and psychology;6. CPR/First Aid Certified or the ability to obtain certification within the first two months of employment

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Must be able to successfully pass both OEC and criminal background checks.
2. Physical required upon hire.
3. Must have own transportation, valid drivers license and proof of insurance.
