The Physician Enterprise Decision Support Analyst will support the Physician Enterprise leadership team to coordinate operational data and inform data-driven decision making through use of analysis, tools and resources. This position will inform and provide operational support in assessing and analyzing data using enterprise solutions or ad hoc/ individual assessments to monitor and inform operational leaders to drive quality of care, continuous improvement and operational efficiency for Physician Services. This position will partner in collaboration with the Enterprise Analytics team as a knowledge content expert for Physician Services to coordinate the development of reporting and analysis tools. This position will also serve as an internal resource for ad hoc analysis to analyze, identify, aggregate and communicate key information and metrics to Physician Enterprise Senior leadership.
A day in the life of a Physician Enterprise Decision Support Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Responsible for creation, development, operational implementation and assessment of data and tools for Physician Enterprise including identification and tracking of KPIs & Metrics.
- Responsible for identification of insights in the data and translating them into actionable operational recommendations for Physician Enterprise.
- Utilize data, analysis and visualizations to communicate impactful assessments and analysis to inform and inspire decision-making for Physician Enterprise.
- Socialize and present data and visualizations to senior Physician leaders to proactively address concerns, issues, and needs.
- Utilize various analytical tools and methodologies to analyze complex data sets related to physician services, regarding clinical quality measures, cost-utilization measures, Physician scorecards, revenue cycle, patient care, operational efficiencies, and compliance metrics.
- Coordinate the creation and monitoring performance metric dashboards and reports for physician services by collaborating with DTS and clinical quality leaders.
- Regularly monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to the leadership and stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Conduct general analysis with local tools (Excel/Sheets) to assess Physician operational data including but not limited to, position management (FTE), productivity, academic, research and clinical areas of specialization to monitor services and provide Physician Leadership with operational awareness and line of sight to performance.
- Identify and communicate on trends, hot spots and key data points across Physician Enterprise to inform decision making as well as surface opportunities for operational process improvement.
- Design and execute data analysis projects on behalf of Physician Enterprise, leveraging medical process and workflow knowledge and operational/clinical skills in tandem with various quantitative and qualitative methodologies and tools to provide insights.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data for predictive modeling and forecasting, function as subject matter expert on operational data relative to Physician Enterprise operations.
- Create, manage, analyze, and ensure load leveling process using data sets for on-call utilization in active partnership with Physician Enterprise leadership, including identification of trends and call needs.
- Coordinate the design and development (on behalf of Physician Enterprise) in partnership with Enterprise Analytics to facilitate automation of Physician Enterprise dashboards for socialization.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and useful data are sourced, analyzed and provided to Physician Enterprise leadership to guide strategies and interventions.
- Develop standardization for operational data focus for Physician leadership to ensure a shared understanding and line of sight on key goals and initiatives.
- Optimizes operational functionality and understanding of key data for end users and Physician Leaders to translate data tools and analysis..
- Develop ad hoc reports for Physician Enterprise within the Enterprise Analytics & Insights application and /or individual source applications as needed.
- Build scheduled or Ad Hoc reports and analysis for distribution as needed to key stakeholders for a deeper dive and understanding of the data and trends.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
- Masters degree (in applied math, operations research, statistics, computer science, healthcare, nursing informatics, epidemiology or related field)
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical quality and productivity analysis within the healthcare industry
- Strong understanding of NCQA/NQF/CMS measures in clinical, financial, patient experience, compliance and RVU-RBRVS based revenue cycle management.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
- Excellent organizational, motivational and interpersonal skills, capable of interfacing well at multiple levels within a large organization.
- Experience with the concepts and principles of one or more related fields or departments. - Data Management, Process Improvement, Project Management.
- Knowledge and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Google analytical tools, Google cloud platform, Google Looker, Cerner, Epic EMR, MS office, Tableau)
- Must be able to present results to internal and external stakeholders.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred :
- Medical degree (MD), PhD or advanced degree in Healthcare Administration (MPH).
- Querying experience with BI tools like Oracle BI, Business Objects, Cognos or other.
- Knowledge and understanding of Physician Services practice, Medical care standards and operational workflows
- Previous experience working in academic settings like teaching hospitals and medical school is preferred.
