Purpose:
Provides overall administration and operation of the assigned nursing facility. Assumes responsibility for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the delivery and quality care in compliance with the operational goals of Senior Living.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve effective working relationships with the medical director and attending medical staff.
- Assist team in problem solving for optimum effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate regularly with the Regional Director of Operations.
- Ensure cost effective operation of all assigned areas through the development of productivity and budget goals measured against established levels of performance.
- Establish an organizational goals and plans.
- Initiate corrective action.
- Monitor trends in human resource management and work effectively with the human resource function.
- Establish working relationships with residents and families, coordinates family councils.
- Demonstrate the qualities and behaviors that support the mission, vision and values of UPMC Senior Living.
- Maintain good communications with managers, employees, residents, family members, volunteers and community members.
- Establish and update facility operating policies and procedures pertaining to operations and resident care.
- Analyze trends, develop action plans, and implement program objectives to achieve results.
- Monitor compliance with regulations and standards to promote quality resident care and direct the actions of the quality improvement committee.
- Follow established standards of care and quality management.
- Delegate responsibilities to accomplish goals and promote a strong team approach among department managers.
- Exhibit sound judgment in decision making and operational effectiveness.
- Provide administrative leadership to ensure the facility achieves objectives.
- Effectively communicate with employees to ensure a productive work environment, conducive to excellent teamwork.
- Develop and oversee a marketing plan for census goal achievement.
- Perform and approve performance evaluations for assigned managers and staff.
- Coordinate all programs, services and activities to ensure compliance with national, state and local regulations.
- Promote fair and consistent administration of personnel policies, performance appraisals and progressive discipline.
- Accomplish and direct department managers to prepare revenue, expense and FTE budgets, monitor progress.
