Job purpose
Beacon is seeking a Communications Associate II to join the Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department. Our ideal candidate is a creative thinker, gifted writer, and detail-oriented individual with an eye for good visual design and storytelling. This exciting role will work with all areas of the company to communicate corporate news internally with a focus on how Beacon’s values are alive throughout the business and our 8,000+person workforce. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their communication expertise to make an impact by reaching and engaging employees, managers, and community members in pursuit of Beacon’s mission and goals.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage employee communications content and programs on a variety of platforms including the Company intranet, digital screen platform and e-newsletter
- Write, edit and manage approval process for corporate and employee news stories, scripts and presentations in multiple media formats to share with both internal and external audiences
- Curate written and visual content for corporate and executive social media posts
- Help create, manage and execute communication plans for company programs to drive awareness and adoption
- Manage various employee engagement programs and events
- Partner with the Communications and HR team to support diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and events
- Participate in elevating education and effectiveness of Beacon’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council
- Assist the Senior Manager of Employee Communications and Engagement with day-to-day department activities, tactical execution and administration
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or other related field requiring extensive writing and communications skills
- 1-3 years of prior relevant work experience in Communications and/or CSR at a large company with workforce in hundreds of locations
- Experience producing video, audio and other multimedia content, preferred
- Skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro), SharePoint, and Familiarity with AP Style, preferred
- Bilingual Spanish and/or French
- Demonstrated ability to write in a clear and compelling manner, with a strong command of English grammar and editing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to execution
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cohesively with senior management, supervisors, colleagues, and partners
- Good eye for graphic design to support appealing and effective communication
- Excels at working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Detail-oriented, with a drive to produce high-quality content, provide outstanding service to field and functional teams, and continually improve results and processes
- Proficient skill with Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
Working conditions
- Minimal travel requirements as needed for business purposes
- Work assignments may be completed remotely and/or available company offices/branches within respective markets
Physical requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or keyboard
- Heavy methods of verbal and auditory communication via phone, virtual calls, and/or email
