We are looking for:
The Principal Financial Analyst role entails cash and liquidity forecasting for the entire company, as well as its individual subsidiaries. The incumbent will make projections and variances, those projections are communicated to the company's Finance leadership group on a monthly basis, including the CFO, Treasurer, and the Corporate Controller. This information, in-turn, is communicated to the company's senior management team, guiding strategic decisions, as well as keeping them informed of key financial cash flow and liquidity targets.
Recognized as a subject matter expert with respect to cash transactions and the statement of cash flows.
Broad level knowledge of the company’s operations, practices, and procedures including the utility and non-utility (non-regulated) businesses. In addition, knowledge of the utility ratemaking process and utility-specific accounting practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and senior management.
High level knowledge and extensive experience working with Microsoft Excel and complex financial models, including software for used in financial forecasting and reporting.
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to analyze and interpret financial data and determine the impact on the company’s financial results
Ability to work equally well as a member of a team as well as independently.

Experience in the Finance, Economics, or Accounting related field. Experience working for a utility company is preferred.

In this role, you will:
Track actual cash flow and cash balances on a monthly basis, comparing results against budget, prior forecast, and prior year amounts for various periods (Quarters, Year-to-Date, Full Year). Interpret results, develop clear & concise variance explanations, and identify key trends and patterns that would impact forecasts and financial targets.
Complete standardized cash flow and liquidity reporting that will be communicated to the Finance leadership team and, ultimately, the senior management team. This is time sensitive work that often requires accelerated deadlines. Prepare projected Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flow Financial Statements for a 2 year period for every monthly forecast, which goes to both Senior Management and Board of Directors. Prepare projected Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flow Financial Statements for a 5 year period for annual Financial Plan, which goes to both Senior Management and Board of Directors.
Communicate the status of cash flow and liquidity targets, including presenting to the CFO and other members of the Finance team. As a subject matter expert, answer questions, provide guidance, and perform complex ad hoc analyses as needed for company leaders and business partners throughout the organization.
Track debt interest expense and provide analysis comparing actual expense to budget, prior forecast, and prior year amounts. Also provide the Treasury department and the Finance team with analysis showing the impact of proposed financing transactions on earnings and cash flow targets (as needed).
Communicate directly with the company’s Treasury department on a frequent basis with regards to expected near-term cash inflows and outflows. Lead in assisting Treasury in decisions related to corporate financing and cash on hand, including the timing of debt and equity issuances.
Support the company’s Financial Reporting team with data and analysis related to the statement of cash flows, which is reported in the company’s quarterly filings with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC). Provide the same information related to debt covenants, strict financial ratios that the company must report and adhere to in order to maintain good credit standing.
