Heavy Equipment Service Manager - Grand Forks, ND

Primary Responsibilities

Initiate requests for repairs and maintenance of all types of equipment. Provide administrative support to the service department. Ensure timely repairs and paper flow. Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with Customers, Managers, and Subordinates. This position reports to the Support Division General Manager.

Essential Functions:

  1. Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises maintenance technicians' work activities. Directs diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and general repairs on all types of heavy equipment.
  2. Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of shop operations.
  3. Responsible for repair procedures and policies and ensuring Technicians are completing repairs as required.
  4. Responsible for supplying tire information, ground engagement information, needed repairs, and future repairs for heavy equipment by communicating this information to the Service Coordinator.
  5. Schedules servicing and maintenance of heavy equipment in various outlying job and plant operations.
  6. Communicates between operations and the maintenance facilities for all equipment maintenance needs.
  7. Follows, implements, and enforces company safety, affirmative action, and equal employment opportunity policies to ensure a safe and harassment-free workplace.
  8. Adheres to and enforces all hazardous material handling and exposure practices and procedures as outlined by company and customer policies.
  9. Assist the Support Division General Manager with the shop budget.
  10. Assesses requirements for shop staffing and makes necessary recommendations to the Support Division General Manager for changes in varying workloads, hours worked, addition or reduction in workforce, and changes in shift demands.
  11. Assesses and makes recommendations to the Support Division General Manager for training of maintenance technicians.
  12. Evaluate shop personnel performance through adequate documentation and make recommendations to the Support Division General Manager.
  13. Is able to use a computer-based maintenance work order system for tracking all repairs and maintenance of company equipment, including timecard verification, work order parts and supplies, timely opening and closing of work orders, and proper notes recorded for describing work performed. Can use Microsoft Office and all associated programs.
  14. Evaluates the need for external contracting arrangements with various vendors for the repair and maintenance of various types of equipment. Reports this need to the Service Coordinators.
  15. Keeps Service Coordinators informed of repair costs, job priorities, work progress, and work schedules.

Compensation:

The compensation package is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
