Job description
Ghost City Tours, the premier provider of ghost tours in America's most haunted cities, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Tour Guide Manager to join our team. This management position is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, scheduling, and retention of our tour guides, ensuring that each ghost tour is delivered to the highest standard. The ideal candidate will have a passion for history and the paranormal and solid leadership and conflict-resolution skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Training: Identify, recruit, and train new tour guides who are passionate about sharing their love for history and the paranormal. Develop and implement training programs that ensure all guides meet Ghost City Tours' standards of excellence.
- Scheduling: Coordinate tour guide schedules to ensure all tours are adequately staffed, taking into account peak times, holidays, and special events. Manage requests for time off and substitutions to maintain seamless tour operations.
- Conflict Resolution: Serve as the first point of contact for resolving any conflicts that arise among tour guides or between tour guides and customers. Implement effective solutions that uphold company values and customer satisfaction.
- Retention: Develop strategies to retain top-performing tour guides through recognition, incentives, and opportunities for growth. Foster a positive and supportive work environment that encourages long-term commitment to the company.
- Performance Management: Regularly evaluate tour guide performance through customer feedback, direct observation, and other relevant metrics. Provide constructive feedback and coaching to help guides continuously improve.
- Operational Support: Collaborate with other departments to support overall operational efficiency. Contribute to developing and refining tour content, marketing strategies, and customer experience enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a management or supervisory role, preferably in the tourism, hospitality, or entertainment industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a solid ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including motivating and developing a diverse team.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
