VETERINARIAN 3 (Livestock Herd Health And Reproduction Veterinarian) Department Description

Job Summary Serves as a staff veterinarian on the Livestock Herd Health and Reproduction Service at the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). Performs clinical work in ambulatory livestock medicine and applied theriogenology. Provides appropriate support of livestock clinical instruction including clinical teaching for veterinary medical students and VMTH house officers. Applicants will be screened on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date. THIS CONTRACT POSITION ENDS ONE YEAR FROM DATE OF HIRE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION Position Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Clinical work with livestock patients can be physically demanding and require working in a variety of locations and facilities, indoor and outdoor, in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Appropriately move and restrain livestock.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - Indoor and outdoor work, in a variety of environments.
- Must work hours scheduled by service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum License/Certification: - DVM or equivalent degree.
- Current CA or University veterinary licensure and good standing with the CA Veterinary Medical Board.
Minimum Education/Experience: - Board Certified, residency trained or 5 years' experience in livestock herd health and reproduction.
- Evidence of experience in herd-based medicine, herd-health protocol development and regulatory medicine.
- Evidence of experience in applied clinical reproduction of livestock.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): - Interpersonal and communication skills to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred License/Certification:
- Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology. Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience in a veterinary teaching hospital setting, including clinical teaching of veterinary students, is preferred.
- Experience with advanced reproductive procedures in livestock.
- Excellent organizational skills.
