Job Title: Coding Team Leader

Reports To: HIM System Director, System Coding Manager

Job Summary:

Coordinate and lead day-to-day operations in the Health Information Management ("HIM") Department coding activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory agency requirements. Lead and directs the staff on a daily basis to maintain an even workflow throughout the coding area according to policy. Monitors workflow by effectively managing and organizing staff to meet turnaround times and project deadlines. Utilizes the electronic health record, health information systems, and healthcare applications and has a good working knowledge of information technology. Reviews and update policies and procedures that are aligned and comply with hospital and coding policies and procedures and regulatory agencies. Maintains a good working relationship with medical staff and other hospital departments to achieve optimal service delivery. Acts as a resource throughout the organization on HIM-coding and as a liaison between HIM department and internal/external stakeholders.

6.

Oversees coding personnel management functions such as orientation, training, scheduling, counseling, evaluating and disciplining employees.

7.

Provides direct oversight of Schuyler Hospital's Coding activates and workflow.

8.

Coordinates the activities of the department with all other functions and acts as the department representative at all department head or middle management meetings and attends administrative staff meetings and other committee meeting as appropriate.

9.

Collaborates with other HIM Departments (and any other departments) systems in the Cayuga Health System that strengthens the relationship and knowledge for better outcomes in all entities of the system.
