As an Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for implementing, promoting, and maintaining an active infection prevention program. In our collaborative environment, you will work closely with our Senior Director of Quality to conduct surveillance and investigate activities, analyze data, educate our caregivers, and create policies.

The Infection Preventionist has the ability to grow knowledge in a variety of areas and can establish themselves as a content expert across the system. This position will be based out of Hillcrest Hospital but will have support programs at all of the east region hospitals. This role is hybrid and allows for 1 day of remote work per week.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts surveillance for hospital acquired infections; analyzes data. Generates reports, identifies trends.
• Provides recommendations for improvement.
• Investigates clusters of infections, outbreaks.
• Utilizes knowledge of microbiology, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of patient care equipment.
• Develops and implements infection prevention policies and procedures.
• Conducts audits on infection prevention practices.
• Provides education and serves as a consultant to various levels of care providers.
• Coordinates infection prevention committee meetings and other related activities.
• Coordinates the annual infection prevention risk assessment, review, and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention plan. Reports communicable diseases as required by the Ohio Department of Health.
• Collaborates with health departments in complying with issues related to outbreaks and control of communicable diseases.
• Complies with mandates for state and federal public reporting of hospital acquired infections.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• RN preferred.

Certifications:

• Certified in Infection Control – Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
• CBIC required after two years of hire date.
• CBIC Certification will offset one year of required experience.

Work Experience:

• Minimum three years of recent relevant clinical experience including nursing, infection prevention, respiratory therapy, or medical technology.
• Strong communication, clinical assessment, and computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related programs).

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
