SUMMARY OF ROLE:

We are currently looking for an Accounting Specialist who will prepare and process daily cash receipts. This position will also prepare bank reconciliations, be point-of-contact for banking information, and process accounts receivable. Additional duties will also include: performing general ledger and cash transaction accounting.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

• Performs administrative, general expense and cash account analysis.
• Reconciles daily funds including lockbox, ACH, cash, and credit cards to the appropriate bank accounts.
• Processes checks for deposit.
• Research check status and VOID as necessary.
• Handles Accounts Receivable billing.
• Assists with reconciliation of operating, payroll, cafeteria plan, and other bank accounts.
• Prepares reports, statements, and documents for NOVEC management and external authorities.
• Reviews and updates procedures as seen fit.
• Serves as back-up to Accounting Specialist - Payroll.
• Provides assistance to accounting staff and other departments where needed.
• Handles and maintains integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive human resource and management information records.
• Works continually towards self-development to stay current on accounting, tax, budgeting, and financial procedures and practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One to three years of related experience and/or training.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
• Demonstrated knowledge of all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation, Microsoft Office applications and accounting systems.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
• Demonstrated time management, detail orientation, and organizational skills.
