Job description

National General is seeking an Auto Damage Adjuster in the Uniondale, NY area. This is a hybrid-remote role, upon completion of training, candidates can work a remote schedule 4 days a week. Prior Experience handling Auto Claims is highly desirable.

Job Summary:

Responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for basic automobile accidents. Applies analytical thinking to determine coverage, liability, damages and otherwise adjusts and negotiates claims within limit of authority.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handles investigation regarding most aspects of auto claims (coverage, liability and damages) with the exercise of limited discretion (limited independence)
• Applies basic understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and organizational relationships within the company and department
• Determines subrogation or fraud potential and how to handle
• Identifies customer needs and works to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills
• Recognizes and identifies body parts of a vehicle and understands other potential property damage
• For claims involving injuries (if handled), learns how to review, evaluate, and negotiate basic injury claims

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job does not have supervisory duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
• 0-2 years of related experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Ability to obtain and maintain adjuster licenses as required

Functional Skills

• Customer service orientation
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Time management skills from a global case management and pending perspective (vs. transactional)
• Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to detect differences and issue recognition from multiple sources
• Proficient in Word and Outlook

The base range offered for the role is: $47,500 - $86,,000 and may vary based on internal equity, and job-related skills, knowledge and experience; among other factors.
