Due to growth we're looking for a Construction Controller experienced in:
-Heavy Civil Construction cost management experience (highway, roadway improvement, grading, paving, site development, underground utilities, concrete, structural, flatwork)
-Will oversee accounting manager + project accountants
-Project sizes $100K - $1000+ Million

Role Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of our construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis to support our project managers and executive team in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise accounting operations for construction projects, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost accounting, and payroll.
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; manage year-end closing and coordinate with external auditors.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and monitor the company's budget and financial forecasts; analyze and report variances, and prepare cash flow forecasts.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of projects and identify areas for financial improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Required Qualifications:
-5+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related required
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting, financial reporting, and GAAP a PLUS
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience with construction management software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
