Job description
We have an immediate need for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a fast growing Distribution Company located in 13 states. This is a new role on the Corporate Accounting Team and will serve as the right hand to the Controller / CFO and be well positioned for track to a supervisory role within two years. Work from home 3 days per week but must be located in the Greater Atlanta Area.
We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join out team! This position will prepare accurate and timely financial statements and documents as well as be responsible for performing balance sheet, revenue and expense account reconciliations with an emphasis on manufacturing inventory accounting including core accounting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
- Responsible for all inventory accounting and inventory reconciliations including core accounts.
- Liaise with inventory personnel at all locations to ensure accuracy of inventory general ledgers and subledgers.
- Allocate, maintain, update and post regular recurring journal entries relating to workers compensation, 401k allocation, inventory reserve and other prepaid expenses.
- Conduct regular ledger maintenance to reconcile specific balance sheet general ledger accounts.
- Assist staff accountant in researching and resolving cash discrepancies (cash application errors, short pays, applying credit memos, payment issues) in a timely manner. Troubleshoot petty cash files.
- Assist with the month end close process and intercompany transactions.
- Cross train in all systems and functions across all companies to provide support and knowledge when necessary.
- Provide technical support and advice on general ledger account posting to accounts payable and accounts receivable accounts.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Liaise with Controller to improve financial procedures.
- Researches complex accounting transactions upon management's requests.
- Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
- Assists in preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including Target vs. Actual variance reports.
- Supports internal customers by researching questions and investigating variances on the financial statements.
. Requirements:
JOB REQUIREMENTS OF THE SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
- Minimum 3 years inventory experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Core inventory accounting a plus.
- Hands on experience in preparing financial statements, financial analysis, cost accounting. Budgeting and forecasting a plus.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- CPA a plus.
