Summary:
Work as part of the Distribution & Learning and Development team to design and improve engaging and effective e-learning content (computer-based) or traditional instructor-led, to include analysis, design, development, implementation, compliance and evaluation. The DC Learning and Development Specialist will work closely with the Manager of Learning and Development as well as relevant subject matter experts (Warehouse Operations). Proficiency in three areas: Instructional Design, Compliance, Evaluation. Responsible for the recruitment, screening, onboarding, and training of all new Associates as well as salaried and hourly leadership trainees
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Recommends specific training solutions including method and media designed for both immediate and long-term performance improvement. Recommends external training material or sources when needed and works with vendors in the development and/or presentation of training.
• Creates and delivers engaging and robust e-learning, traditional instructor led materials, videos, manuals, workbooks, etc. from conception to completion
• Works closely with SMEs and stakeholders to determine project aim, goal and requirements.
• Provides regular updates to Project Managers, SME’s and Vendors.
• Delivers to agreed timelines when working with Project Managers or SMEs to ensure targets for delivery are met.
• Facilitates instructor-led sessions to medium to large audiences, including company-wide sessions.
• Presents material in-person or virtually.
• Leads offsite and other group meetings.
• Expertly applies adult learning theory and instructional design best practices.
• Conducts needs analysis to identify performance gaps and determine root cause.
• Applies appropriate data collection methodologies to needs assessment and evaluation.
• Prepares and disseminate a needs assessment report that recommends potential instructional and non-instructional solutions.
• Develops measurement strategies for learning programs.
• Manage the design and development of learning solutions using a blended approach that includes instructor led, web-based self-paced, performance support, coaching verifications, etc. through a dedicated team of learning professionals.
• Possesses a desire to continuously upskill as it pertains to improved developmental tools, software, etc. to include (but not limited to) Articulate, Adobe Creative, Powerpoint and Powtoons.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the team and across the organization.
• Utilizes research and subject matter expertise when necessary.
• Maintains accurate pre-employment records and training records for future references.
• Participates in needs analysis studies to determine recruiting and training needs within the DC’s.
• Assists Learning and Development team in formulating teaching outline and determines. instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and in person and online workshops.
• Assists Learning and Development in selecting or developing teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
• Assists Learning and Development in selecting or developing testing and evaluation. procedures to be used at completion of training.
• Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as DLT/LDP orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, apprenticeship programs, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading, and leadership development. Prepare training schedules for DLT and LDP Orientations.
• Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
• Revises design of training curriculum and methods to improvement effectiveness.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access database software.
Specialized Software Skills: Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Powtoons and Filezilla.
