Compensation: $70,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience

About the Club:
Quail Valley is a single owner Club that offers three locations for its members, the Golf Club, the River Club and the Pointe:
- The Golf Club is pure golf club at its best with no residential homes that includes a spectacular 18-hole course designed and built in 2001 by Tom Fazio II and Nick Price and a Par 3 course and short game area with designed and built by Tom Fazio II in 2021.
- The River Club is a 10-acre site that offers amenities for Members and Guests such as tennis, marina, Olympic size swimming pool, full-service spa and fitness center, overnight guest suites, tiki bar and fine and casual dining.
- The Pointe has 25 luxury overnight guest suites as well as fine dining and two separate lounges.
Golf Club Highlights:
- $3,500,000 annual maintenance budget.
- 33 total on the maintenance staff (23 full time, 4 interns, 6 part-time)
- Grasses include Tifeagle greens, Celebration tees/fairways, Tifway 419 rough, Tiftuf par 3/short game course.
- Equipment includes 80% leased from Toro, 2023 Foley Accu Pro Reel/Bedknife grinders, Kubota Tractors, 2 John Deere 300 gal GPS guided sprayers,
- Rainbird Par + irrigation system with Rainbird IC 2-wire on Par 3/Short Game/Driving Range.
- 300 Charter Golf Members with 198 on a waiting list (8-10 years). · 31,000 rounds/year. Generous summer closure periods for aerification and cultural practices. Closed every Monday June – September.
- Planned Golf Club capital projects:
- $570k golf course bridge reconstruction 2025 (projected) · $3.0 million irrigation renovation 2025 (projected)
- $1.2 million full greens reconstruction 2025 (projected)

Position Highlights:
- Coach – responsible for educating staff to be thoughtful, knowledgeable, skillful and productive on a consistent basis and challenge staff in an encouraging manner to always be improving.
- Leadership – this is a hands-on leadership position that will lead by example always and willingly to execute tasks personally.
- Capital Projects – participate in the planning of large-scale capital projects, such as maintenance shop renovations, greens complexes, irrigation systems and new bridge construction.
- Plan, Schedule and Assign - responsible for developing daily schedules, leading the team meetings and assigning tasks in collaboration with other assistants and head superintendent.
- Communication – regularly and proactively communicate and follow up with team, equipment manager, and Superintendent.
- Grounds Maintenance - lead, manage, oversee, train, coach, counsel and assist in all activities in golf course maintenance including budgeting, implementation of the agronomic plan, identifying, evaluating and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including funguses, pest and drainage issues, overseeing and supporting the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course, chemical applications, equipment operations and inspecting irrigation systems and, identifying issues and implementing corrective action.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in turf management or related field or equivolent experience.
- Experience or knowledgeable in maintaining exceptional golf course conditions.
- Competence in fundamental golf course maintenance such as equipment operations, pesticide/fertility applications, course setup, hand watering, irrigation and basic knowledge of pumps, wells and electrical systems.
- Experience or knowledge of turf fertility, water management, plant protectants and growth regulators with a foundational understanding of rates/timing/safety procedures related to a wide variety of applications.
- Knowledge of the game of golf and the impact agronomy decisions have on course playability.
- Proficient in communicating effectively and often by email, texts, phone.
- Current Florida Pesticide License, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
- Computer software experience with Excel, Word, Outlook and irrigation and equipment technology.
