Job description
Procurement Specialist
Our organization is seeking a Procurement Specialist to be a part of our team. This individual will be assisting and working with contracting for assigned commodities according to departmental and organizational policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assesses requirements based on inventory levels, requirements planning, new products requirements and trend analysis
- Identify most competitive source of supply as well as incorporate corporate procurement strategy minimizing risk by utilizing suppliers based on best cost, availability, necessity, quality, service, and logistical expenses.
- Prepares bids, RFQ's and/or RFP's including specifications, supporting spreadsheets, comparisons, recommendations, and justifications.
- Drafting, interpreting, and revising contracts along with outlining financial risks that follow procurement strategy prior to approval.
- Reviews, monitors, evaluates, and reconciles contracts and orders for assigned commodities.
- Maintains data information files, reports, price lists, and quality nonconformances on assigned commodities.
- Provides as a liaison between vendors and departments for supplier approvals, forecasting, supplier quality, plant testing/trials.
- Monitoring supplier performance as well as conducting business review meetings with supplier(s).
- Coordinating with shipping agencies and sellers to ensure timely deliveries
- Assist in objectives pertaining to established and/or created cost reduction goals.
- May expedite shipping and deliveries, maintain inventories, and monitor usage as well as usage inconsistencies, and price changes.
- May validate, reconcile and process receiving reports, vendor invoices and other payment documents.
- Professionally and tactfully explains policies and procedures to intercompany individuals seeking to procure materials, services and/or supplies.
- Upholds the security and confidentiality of documents and data within the area of responsibility
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Experience and exposure to supply chain concepts and methodologies in a manufacturing environment. Minimum 2 years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- 4-year degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or relevant discipline a plus.
Qualifications
- Possess analytical and technical skills to understand business practices and apply them.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Negotiations - skill or experience with negotiation, typically in business, financial and/or legal context.
- Proficient in Microsoft office - xl a must
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
