Job Description: This Senior Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in managing our manufacturing process with our global CM locations. More specifically, this person will own all aspects of the mechanical manufacturing process. Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer will have the ability to identify any manufacturing challenges that affect the quality and integrity of our PCBA and Unit level assemblies. Assist our CMs in the production process assembly with prototype builds from Surface Mount, wave, post solder ops, chassis assembly and QC. Work hands-on with manufacturing assembly to define processes and required tooling for efficiency and ease of assembling the PCBA.
Review processes related defects to identify root cause analysis. Coordinate prototype build schedules with manufacturing engineers. Audit shop floor documentation assembly instructions and special instructions such as “on-the-job training”. Additional activities will include the creation and management of KPI’s and other metrics which will need to be reported on a regular basis. This individual will need to work cross-functionally with other team members, will need to manage changes in priorities and execute plans in a high-tech, highly energized, team-oriented environment.
Roles & Responsibilities: - Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching assembly methods, and conferring with equipment vendors.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
- Assist R&D and CMs with prototype builds from Surface Mount, wave, post solder ops, chassis assembly and QC.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding assemblers.
- Work hands-on with manufacturing assembly to define, monitor, and improve our operational processes and outputs.
- Review processes related defects to identify root cause analysis.
- Ensure workmanship standards are within IPC 610 / J-STD criteria.
- Audit shop floor documentation assembly instructions and special instructions such as “on-the-job training”.
- Introduce Lean Manufacturing concepts when applicable.
- Customarily exercises a high level of independent judgment and interpretation in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent discipline or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years in a manufacturing environment. With experience in manufacturing engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Root cause analysis experience preferred, above average math skills (sound knowledge in statistics).
- Experience with programming and operation of CAD software tools.
- Proven work knowledge and experience in the PCBA manufacturing process.
- Customarily exercises a high level of independent judgment and interpretation in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results.
- Initiates new cross-organizational projects.
- Advises senior management on specialized technical or business issues.
- Serves as organization spokesperson on specialized projects or programs.
- Able to make quality decisions on behalf of the Synopsys operations team charter and goals.
The base salary range across the U.S. for this role is between $126,000-$190,000. In addition, this role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
