Job description

Job Description

Are you, or someone you know, a person that would rather be outside in the summer? Can you get along fairly well with others and like to work for someone that appreciates your hard work and will be working right beside you? If so we're looking for someone like you. You don't have to have any experience, we will fully train you and get you the certifications you need. It is seasonal work, and we will be busy until the middle of August. If you have other obligations like back to school, harvest work, etc., and need to be done August 1, we can work with you on that.

HOURS: Full-time, Seasonal work, No weekends. We start the last week of May and I will make sure you keep busy two weeks into August. The month of June is really busy and you will have overtime hours into July. I have had employees that want to be done the start of August to get ready to go back to school or go on vacations, and then those who want to work more. As I mentioned above, I can work with you on that.

HIRING RANGE: Employees with no prior experience will start at $20/hr. I encourage everyone to take the North Dakota Certified Applicator License test is completed (an open book exam I through the state that I pay for). Then as soon as you pass you'll move to $21/hr (most employees do this before we start working, it's an open book test I can help you get ready for). If you do have other previous experience I will take that into consideration as well.

WHAT EXACTLY WE DO: Our job is to provide total vegetation management (no weeds growing on a site) or noxious weed management (killing bad weeds, but not the grass) for our clients. We use the booms on our trucks as much as possible (basically driving around in circles in the trucks), but also have hoses we pull and spray with. For noxious weed spraying we ride around on 4 wheeler's and ATV's and spray. It gets hot, and isn't glamorous, but I've been fortunate in that most of my employees return the following summers, so it must not be all that bad. After the first couple weeks it's lots of riding around in the trucks to and from sites, especially as the summer goes on.

When we stop for fuel in the mornings I'll get your breakfast and sandwiches for the day if you don't mind gas station food. Many employees have become connoisseurs of wonderful Hot Stuff Breakfast Pizza and Breakfast Sandwiches.

LOCATION : Will vary, but we are based out of Minot and drive to sites around ND most days. Typically, we leave each morning and are home each evening. I don't like to be away from my family any more than I have to be, but sometimes it is just not worth driving back and forth, so we will have a couple overnight trips. During the trips both hotels and meals are provided. We like to start the day early to beat the heat, guys like it so they can have more time to relax each night and have some time to enjoy the short ND summers.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications :

Have to be able to pass a pre-employment drug test (hair and urine) and also pass random drug test throughout the summer if selected randomly by one of the clients.
Must be 18
Must not have had a felony charge in the previous 7 years
Able to lift 50lbs.

Desired Characteristics:

Able get along and work with others
Able to communicate with others
Able to keep records
Able to be on your feet a majority of the day
Valid driver's license (Does not need to be a cdl)

Benefits

Start at $20/hr or $21/hr if you pass the open book certification exam. I pay you while we're riding in the trucks out to locations. Each morning when we stop for fuel I'll pay for your breakfast sandwiches and sandwiches or other gas station delicacies for the day.

If you are looking to get into the oil field but aren't sure, how this has been a good start for networking for several former employees.
