PURPOSE
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator II, under general supervision, assists in the management of the System member's environmental health and safety program. The position coordinates within the full spectrum from preventative mitigation to assessment reporting as well as other related activities (training, building proctor, and after-hours emergency response). The position supports all aspects of a full-service EHS program to ensure a safe, healthy, and comfortable work environment for employees and visitors. The position adheres to requirements to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies, as well as Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Area 1: Environmental Management
Percent Effort: 36.33%
• Coordinates hazardous materials storage facility inspection and reporting.
• Coordinates hazardous materials inventory reporting.
• Conducts hazardous waste management plan reviews.
• Conducts universal and hazardous waste collection, inspections, disposal, and reporting.
• Prepares stormwater management program annual report.
• Conducts SWPPP construction project reviews.
• Conducts indoor air quality inspections.
• Coordinates spill prevention control and countermeasures inspections and reporting.
• Coordinates SPCC drills with Texas General Land Office.
• Conducts spill response and reporting.
• Conducts permit by rule reviews.
• Conducts incident investigations.
• Coordinates lab inspections, reporting, and list updates.
• Conducts standard operating procedure reviews.
• Coordinates biological waste management.
• Serves as EHS representative on the Institutional Review Board, Institutional Animal Use and Care Committee, and Institutional Biosafety Committee.
• Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 2: Science/PAC lab Safety
Percent Effort: 27.09%
• Coordinates lab inspections, reporting, and list updates.
• Conducts standard operating procedure reviews.
• Coordinates chemical storage and waste management.
• Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 3: Construction Safety
Percent Effort: 12.62%
• Coordinates project inspections.
• Coordinates boiler permitting (new projects).
• Coordinates ADA compliance (new projects).
• Coordinates NFPA compliance (new projects).
• Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 4: Radiation Safety
Percent Effort: 2.76%
• Conducts laser and x-ray machine inspections.
• Conducts incident investigations.
Functional Area 5: Unmanned Aerial Systems
Percent Effort: 2.40%
• Conducts flight plan reviews.
• Conducts site inspections.
• Conducts incident investigations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participates in various meetings and training programs.

• Supervises interns.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or related discipline.
• Two years of related experience.
• Additional experience may be used as a substitution for the minimum requirement:
• Associate's degree in environmental health and safety or related field.
• Four years of related experience.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
• Knowledge of environmental health and safety rules, regulations, and standards.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

SALARY $48,000 - $52,000 Annually (Salary dependent upon education and experience)
