We are searching for a motivated & experienced Scaler.
The Scaler is responsible for measuring and weighting ingredients into scaling subassemblies per batch for processing dough products.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: include the following
- Operates scaling process independently, as well as within a team environment.
- Checks production schedule to determine item code, # of batches and ingredient weights necessary for the items scheduled.
- Weighs ingredients manually, such as bases, salt, seeds, softeners, onions, garlic, etc; in conformance with specific recipes to prepare batches for dough processing.
- Coordinates the flow of ingredients from the receiving department for usage in the scaling area.
- Weighs and labels all scaling subassemblies into plastic buckets and places on racks for the mixers.
- Opens, pours or measures ingredients into individual bags and stores in holding containers for use in the mixing area.
- Ability to identify the different ingredients in relation to ingredient ID number.
- Dispenses raw materials into dumping stations #1 and #2 ( Mixer 29 & 30).
- Maintain the ingredient levels for all storage bins and replenish as required.
- Helps Mixer A and/or Mixer B when they are on a break.
- Alerts supervision of any problems that may arise in the scaling process
- Checks for changes in the production schedule and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervision.
- Records and report all information about the batches completed during his/her shift.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Oversees the cleanliness of the retarder and ice flaking machine.
- Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.
- As an employee you must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education, GED; or up to one year related experience
