The Project Engineer will participate in the estimating, planning, directing, or coordinating of high-voltage substation and powerline construction and maintenance projects throughout the state of California. You will participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, subcontractors, safety, quality, and implementation. To be successful as a Project Engineer , you will need to be able to work on tight deadlines, be competent in using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, and have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Assist with organizing estimates & proposals. This includes performing quantity take offs, building project schedules, obtaining vendor quotes, and assembling proposal packages.
- Working with and supporting Project Superintendents throughout the life of the Project. This includes scheduling pre-construction activities, working with subcontractors, and obtaining information for Project reporting to customers and PAR West management.
- Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines, perform schedule updates throughout the project
- Performs field visits to gather technical data.
- Assist with managing project costs to stay within the forecasted budget range.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, subcontractors, or engineers to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures, or construction issues.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with engineers, architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.
- Plan, organize, or direct activities concerned with the construction or maintenance of substations.
- Develop and execute corrective actions to deal with the results of delays, harsh weather, or emergencies.
- Preferred Certificate / associate in, Construction Management, engineering or Business-related field or technical trade license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including demonstrated competency in spreadsheet applications is a required.
- Preferred experience with Primavera P6, supporting multiple construction projects.
- Ability to follow process within strict deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Willing to learn and develop new skills.
- Must be willing to travel up to 20%.
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $30.00/Hr. - depending on experience and qualifications.
