C & B Equipment, a progressive family-owned company that has grown over 30 years to include John Deere ag, material handling and power sports locations, has an opening for a Senior Accountant at our Field Support Office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Senior Accountant role is a position that requires accounting and finance experience, attention to detail and the ability to be flexible as projects arise.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for general accounting and assigned monthly close tasks including, but not limited to, the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, reserve, and other miscellaneous analysis
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness as it pertains to the close process
- Partner with Accounting leadership on various projects including streamlining processes and standardization of reconciliations
- Responsible for fixed asset accounting
- Partner with FP&A team on recurring and ad hoc projects such as annual budget preparation, forecasting, and other ad hoc FP&A analysis
- Research and analyze variances and unusual transactions as identified and communicate and resolve as appropriate
- Assist with year-end audit workpaper preparation
- Aid in annual and ad hoc internal and external audit requests
- Support system maintenance and security
- Complete other duties as assigned and provide backup to cover absences and manage workload efforts
- Resolve issues and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Recommend, establish, and maintain controls to ensure accuracy and provide safeguards
- Assist in new system software implementations
- Ability to work in a collaborative and professional environment
- Support the ongoing maintenance of accounting files, folders, and structures
- Ability to adjust and be flexible to support special projects when they arise and are assigned
- Key competencies include: Ability to deliver results accurately and on time. Ability to gather, analyze and determine implications of financial data and communicate efficiently. Candidate must possess a process improvement mindset.
Requirements
- Based in Sioux Falls, SD at our Field Support Office
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA preferred
- 5-10 years of experience in a mix of public and industry is preferred
- Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office, financial software, query tools and ERP systems
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Ability to meet physical demands and duration of physical exertion generally required to perform tasks in support of all job functions, for example - sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling
