Job description
Nakupuna Solutions is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team of talented consultants providing professional services to the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS). The ideal candidate understands the PPBE cycle, values collaboration, and is eager to learn. This position will work as part of a team to develop high-level briefings and data visualizations for senior-level officials.

- Identify, gather, and organize financial management data, reports, exhibits, process maps, and narratives using standard Microsoft Office tools and Power BI. Review client-provided data to ensure complete and accurate data sets.
- Advise on financial management related content, including but not limited to the DoD PPBE process and budget formulation and execution processes and tasks.
- Synthesize information to draft executive summaries, narrative reports, Congressional response, and other deliverables. Identify gaps in information and collaborate with client stakeholders to complete and approve drafts.
- Analyze raw data and develop data visualizations to communicate information effectively and succinctly to senior-level officials.
- Review, revise, and edit deliverables, including presentations, briefings, memos, and other materials.
- Keep leadership abreast of project execution and any issues (e.g., technical problems, project delays) that may impact achievement of client requirements/deliverables or that may exceed defined scope of work.
- Establish the framework, standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and quality control mechanisms to support client requirements.
- Conduct and facilitate sessions/workshops/interviews with stakeholders to gather details on processes and activities.
Skills/Qualifications: The ideal candidate is an analyst that is eager to learn and possesses strategic awareness. Specifically, the ideal candidate will be familiar with, and have experience with the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong writing and data analytical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills. Ability to facilitate stakeholder meetings.
- Understanding of PPBE and knowledge of Government FM functions, such as the budget process, financial systems, audit, accounting, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to synthesize information and draft summaries and reports.
- Experience working with Senior Executives in the Government, preferably DoD.
- Ability to work under pressure and to adapt quickly in a rapid, changing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required. Proficiency in Power BI or other business intelligence tools is preferred.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and develop data visualizations using Excel.
Education and Experience: This position requires three (3) years of relevant professional experience. Experience working in or directly for DoD is required. This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
Clearance: This position requires an active SECRET security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Location: This position is located at the Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia.

- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
