CLS is currently searching for a service-minded, mission driven individual to fill the following position:
Pro Bono Coordinator
OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager of Pro Bono Services, the Pro Bono Coordinator acts as a liaison between CLS and the private bar associations while promoting pro bono involvement by the private attorneys. This position recruits and schedules attorneys for the Legal Advice Clinics, Pro Se Workshops, full representation, and other pro bono projects throughout the law firm’s service area. They also participate and assist in all the law firm’s activities for recruiting, retaining, and recognizing pro bono attorneys. Responsible for maintaining the Pro Bono office to be systemized and orderly to achieve maximum efficiency in the delivery of quality legal services to clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Place pro bono referrals and directs intakes with appropriate volunteer attorneys, track case progression by sending quarterly status reports to volunteer attorneys, track volunteer attorneys’ time and expenses, submit check request for reimbursement, close case files in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the Pro Se Family Law Workshops, reserve rooms for workshops, workshop assistants and attorneys’ correspondence, maintain all workshop attendance records and attend workshops as needed.
- Coordinate and oversee the Legal Advice Clinics; recruits attorneys, set appointments for clients and Attorneys, maintain legal advice clinic log, electronic case records for compliance requirements, and enter time into case management system.
- Network with attorneys by attending Bar Associations functions, as well as the Bar Association’s Family Law Sections, and Legal Support Association meetings and functions monthly.
- Assist with the planning, organizing, and preparing for the recognition events held for all volunteers, assist with the nomination for Florida Supreme Court Pro Bono awards and pro bono service recognition awards throughout the service area.
- Submit articles and pictures to Communications to promote and recognize attorneys.
- Recruit attorneys to give presentations within the community when there are requests from outside programs or when CLS provides this service, maintain records of numbers of persons who attend community education clinics, enter attorneys’ time into case management system, assist with developing video and PowerPoint programs for these presentations.
- Recruit and work with office volunteers and law students on office work and projects that may be delegated and suitable for the volunteers recruited.
- Assist with establishing training for attorneys to learn areas of law involving our client’s needs. Assist Resource Development staff with private bar fundraising campaigns as needed.
- Receive and enter all attorney time for Teen Court Programs into the case management system, work in conjunction with the Teen Court Programs in providing recognition to the attorneys.
- Answer telephones and refer callers to appropriate staff members, other CLS offices or other agencies, as appropriate.
- May perform duties of the work of higher or lower classified positions, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

2. Background and Experience
- Bachelor of Arts degree preferable.
- Law office and legal experience preferable.
- Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
- Must demonstrate compassion and commitment to understanding and addressing issues of low-income clients.
- Must be a self-motivated, professional, and capable of independently managing workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced legal environment with minimal supervision.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
- Ability to perform duties and attend meetings and/or other functions throughout 12 county service area
- Valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, and proof of insurance necessary to travel on behalf of CLS; possibility of working weekends and evenings.
3. Physical Requirements
a. Prolonged periods siting at a desk and working on a computer.
b. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
STARTING SALARY: 42,000; more depending on experience.
