Job description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Spearhead cost-saving initiatives, including annual price evaluations and value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) projects.
- Lead negotiations for annual price reviews with current suppliers to achieve cost reductions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams within TG to implement VA/VE activities aimed at driving cost efficiencies.
- Negotiate price adjustments with suppliers as necessary.
- Manage sourcing activities and oversee the launch of new programs, coordinating with both new and existing material suppliers.
- Engage in new program launches alongside manufacturing facilities, various departments, and suppliers.
- Facilitate the issuance, collection, negotiation, and analysis of RFQs (Request for Quotations) and cost breakdowns from both new and existing suppliers.
- Analyze and forecast market data related to petrochemicals/metals to inform price negotiations and budget planning.
- Maintain records of purchase orders and ensure timely approvals for upcoming procurement needs.
- Contribute to the development of commodity strategies.
- Liaise with TG Japan headquarters regarding global material strategies.
- Participate in annual cost-saving target setting and strategy development within the Purchasing department.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and locations within TG on initiatives such as new material development, commercial agreement strategies, commodity sourcing, and cost reduction efforts.
- Operate within a highly collaborative environment emphasizing flexibility and teamwork for success.
- Drive optimization efforts by actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Address and resolve supplier-related issues as they arise.
- Travel to TG manufacturing plants and supplier locations as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Die cutting
- Minimum of one year of experience in Purchasing.
- Eagerness to learn all facets of Purchasing and willingness to expand into other commodities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites 2007 or newer.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, negotiation, and written communication skills.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and organizational skills.
- Exposure to the development of short and long-term global purchasing strategies is preferred.
