We are looking for an Engineering student to join us for a 3-month period, starting in June 2024!

As the successful candidate, you will be part of the operations team at the manufacturing facility onsite in our Appleton, WI location. Students like you are important to us!  We aim to hire the best and brightest co-op students and interns, with the goal of having you join us as full-time employees upon graduation.  Our ideal student candidate is passionate, collaborative, willing to learn and takes initiative.

Position Summary

The intern occupying this position will assist the Operations department in continuous improvements to the manufacturing of Appetizers. After initial training, the intern will be performing several line studies to improve production operations. After data has been collected, analysis and possible process changes will be implemented. In order to collect the proper data, one should expect to be able to stand for long periods of time and deal with a loud environment, and sometimes hot/cold conditions. Proper personal protective equipment will be issued to protect against these issues. Normal schedule is eight hours per day, five days per week, but might be required to work other shifts and weekend hours as needed. Candidates should have a strong interest in manufacturing and/or engineering.

What You Will Learn and Work On

• Collect and share information
• Assemble and produce compelling content about operations activities – pictures, illustrations, messages, videos, best practices, testimonies, stories, quantified results…
• Communicate regularly with facility employees in all job classifications.
• Support shared learnings and dissemination of results internally and externally
• Participate and lead continuous improvement projects
• Gather data relevant to current and future engineering initiatives
• Make regular recommendations to plant leadership team regarding initiatives.
• Present overall progress against assigned projects on monthly basis.
• You will learn food manufacturing operations, strategic projects and initiatives, internal and external communications, teamwork, work with a purpose, and careers with McCain!

What You Need to be Successful

• High attention to detail is critical
• Good problem-solving skills
• Math knowledge including Calculus
• Proficiency with the Excel and MS Office
• Must be able to work both independently and under immediate supervision
• Interest in manufacturing or engineering
• Be able to correctly use measurement tools after initial training
• Follow company policy for job safety
