Job description


Summary

The teacher assistant supports the teacher and director by helping create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing quality education and developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the teacher assistant observes and documents the children 's interests and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teacher Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Lead teacher and Director. This position reports to the Learn and Play Center Director.

Duties

Assist in the implementation of curriculum activities and encourage participation by children.
Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
Help ensure the smooth daily transition from home to the child care center
Follow all center policies and state regulations.
Maintain personal and professional development plan.

Requirements

minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience
must have a high school or GED
High energy.
ability to work well with others
Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
An understanding of child development.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must have reliable transportation
must clear a full background check and must pass a health screening.
ability to lift 25 pounds.
ability to take frequent walks, kneel, bend, squat, or crawl.
ability to see close up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

Infant/child CPR and First Aid
Significant college credit in early childhood education or related field, CDA,or 6 hours of ECE prefered

About Us

We are looking for a qualified infant /toddler Teacher to prepare small children for learning by easing them into organized education. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life. A teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
