Job description
What you will be doing:
The Painter prepares all wall and trim surfaces. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures by performing the following duties.
What we’ll expect from you :
- Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
- Repairs and/or prepares all wall and trim surfaces to include filing nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler. Also includes hanging of drywall, taping, and sanding.
- Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
- Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switchovers from walls prior to painting.
- Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door-frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
- Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects. Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
- Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover where needed
- Assist in maintaining of maintenance materials and supplies
- Responsible for daily clean up of Maintenance Shop
- Attentive and cautious with regards to the overall security of the property, keeping all keys including master keys in your watchful possession, never to be handed to any unauthorized person including vendors and contractors.
- Ability to report and give account of any incidents occurring on the site to the Property Manager.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be able to work as a team and independently and help others both at the site and other sites and be flexible in transferring to other local regional sites if required.
- Valid drivers’ license along with good driving record and auto insurance is required.
