Job description

A vibrant Michigan engineering firm is seeking an Estimator for their Midland area office!

Responsibilities:

• Lead/manage all aspects of project bidding from start to finish
  
• Review bidding documents (plans specifications bidding criteria and conceptual information)
  
• Engage subcontractors/suppliers in the bidding process
  
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and obtain pricing for materials/anticipated labor
  
• Prepare cost estimates
  
• Receive/analyze subcontractor/supplier proposals
  
• Answer prebid questions that come up during the bidding process
  
• Conduct bid reviews
  
• Meet deadline for submitting project estimate
  
• Prepare proposal correspondence
  
• Meet with team to ensure project goals budgets and schedules will be met
  
• Visit/observe construction sites
  
• Build/maintain client relationships
  

Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Construction Management or Engineering
  
• 3 years of experience in the construction industry at a level that required extensive cost estimating work preferred
  
• Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts
  
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  
• Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas scientific equations and graphs)
  
• Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
  
• Experienced in Microsoft Office Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook Microsoft Project or Primavera
  
• Ability to learn other software as needed
  
• Ability to utilize onscreen takeoff software
  
• Prioritization skills
  
• Ability to monitor own work to ensure accurate high quality consistent results
  
• Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and plans
