Job description
Objective:
The Buyer / Production Planner plays a pivotal role in orchestrating the logistics, purchasing, and inventory management activities for our specialized manufacturing sector. This individual will work closely with the Supply Chain Management Team to ensure the seamless flow of materials and resources, aligning with our commitment to meet customer needs efficiently. A robust background in a dynamic manufacturing setting is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing and Inventory Management: Leverage in-depth analysis of customer demand, sales predictions, and historical material consumption to craft and implement strategies for both build-to-order and build-to-forecast scenarios.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Proactively identify, cultivate, and maintain productive partnerships with current and future suppliers to achieve objectives related to cost, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Performance Evaluation: Engage in the evaluation system designed to assess, track, and discuss supplier performance, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Quality Resolution: Actively participate in meetings aimed at addressing quality concerns, collaborating with both in-house and external teams to devise and implement solutions.
- Inventory Accuracy: Support initiatives aimed at ensuring the precision of inventory records through active participation in verification processes.
- Workflow Planning: Assist in the planning and organization of workflow for designated operations, taking into account process sequences and deadlines.
- Material Coordination: Oversee and manage the prompt delivery and handling of essential materials, including overseeing material transfers and addressing deviations.
- Production Scheduling: Utilize Infor/Syteline systems to generate accurate production schedules for specific product lines, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and accessible.
- Lean Participation: Engage in Lean methodology practices within your area of responsibility and contribute to cross-functional teams to foster problem-solving and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A Bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field is preferred, though relevant professional experience will also be considered.
- Proficient in production control planning within an ERP framework, with a preference for Infor/Syteline experience.
- Skilled in utilizing office and productivity software within a networked environment, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in managing shifting priorities while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Knowledgeable in capacity planning, LEAN inventory, and production system methodologies.
- Experience in high mix, high volume production settings and familiarity with implementing Pull Systems.
