Job description
Job Summary
Position will report directly to the Workers Compensation Claims Manager and will assist in the administration of the company's Workers' Compensation claims program to include the processing and oversight of Workers' Compensation claims. Will also assist with general duties within the Risk Management department as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Active follow up of open workers' compensation claims with the TPA's (claim administrators) and carriers- including reserving and developing strategies to mitigate and resolve claims
- Providing project support to and generally assisting WC Claims Manager in Risk Management Department
- Claim administration duties, including but not limited to oversight of daily claim reporting, completion of wage statements, communicating with medical providers for work status reports, communicating with examiners/adjusters and locations as needed.
- Completing data requests for monthly/quarterly reports, allocations, renewals, accruals, actuarial reviews, audits and on an ad hoc basis
- Organizing compilation and production of relevant documents for litigated cases in conjunction with legal, safety and operational department members plus external adjusters and counsel
- Identifying, evaluating and implementing "best practice" risk and claim management techniques and programs in partnership with other members of the Risk Management & Insurance Department
- Supporting the Risk Management & Insurance (RM&I) Department's relationships with various internal customers and external business partners, including insurers, claims administrators, insurance brokers, outside counsel, risk management consultants, other vendors and customers
- Acting as a resource to Darling Ingredients locations and other assigned duties as needed to assist WC Claims Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ge, S Knowledge, Skills and Abilities kills and Abilities
- 2-5 years worker's compensation experience in a claims or risk management role
- HS diploma required, college degree preferred
- Knowledge of risk management / insurance principles, claim handling guidelines, legal / medical terminology
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- High level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality of information when require
- Self-motivated, determined, and able to work under own initiative
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Needs to be proficient in Excel, Power Point
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills
- Able to work independently or in a team environment
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Licensed Adjuster
- 2 + years of experience
