Overview

Under direct supervision, performs general clerical work and distribution duties.

Posting internally from August 11 2023 - August 18 2023

Responsibilities

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of BronxCare Health System and its employees.

- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the BronxCare Health System (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.

- Responsible for sorting and proper distribution of all mail, records, packages, etc. received in the mailroom.

- Responsible for Sending and receiving packages via United States Postal Service as well as FED EX and UPS.

- Operates the mailing machine as it pertains to the different rates for the different types of outgoing mail including various envelope sizes, Priority and Certified mail.

- Reviews outgoing mail and assure that they are prepared correctly to avoid returned by Post office.

- Responsible for mail machine and web tracking computer system

- Reminds the various Departments regarding mail and package pickup when not done in a timely manner.

- Follows the established internal Policies and Procedures as issued to the employee regarding the operation of the mailroom.

- Assures that the mailroom only accepts mail and packages for Hospital use only.

- Assures that all mail requiring postage is deemed Hospital Business only.

- Keeps mailroom in an organized and clean manner as to maintain an easy work space.

- Interacts professionally, courteously and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees.

- Acts as an information clerk and receptionist by answering the telephone, forwarding messages and answering patient inquiries when necessary.

- Communicates with coworkers as needed to help locate packages and mail.

- Works hand and hand with Receiving Department when dealing with certain packages.

- Assists in training of any new employee when needed.

- Assists the Director by working in other areas of Materials Management when needed.

Qualifications
