Position Title: Construction Manager
Reports to: Director of Construction
Position Status: Permanent – Full Time
FLSA Status: Exempt STOT
Location: Corpus Christi, TX / Pasadena, TX
Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
Purpose: The Construction Manager is responsible for planning and executing all construction activities at one or more project sites. This position is the main interface from Construction to HSE, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Project Controls, as well as the Client’s key site personnel.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the functional direction, coordination, and performance of all on-site construction operations and support departments including HSE, Quality, Material Management, Procurement, Construction Engineering, Project Controls.
- Actively participate in development of a construction HSE culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the job.
- Lead the Project Team in the development of the Construction Execution Plan, work breakdown structure, construction schedule, resource requirements, equipment rental schedules, and construction progress/forecasts.
- Maintain ownership of the Construction Execution Plan by continuously assessing the evolving project and updating the plan while communicating construction requirements within the Project Team.
- Ensure each direct report has a full understanding of the Construction Execution Plan and other information pertinent to construction execution, and lead site team to deliver a successful project.
- Identify key project stakeholders early in the project and build strong relationships using effective communication methods.
- Monitor and control cost, schedule, progress, and productivity including analyzing deviations and taking action to correct negative trends.
- Advise management of developments that could affect project schedule, costs, client relations, and interdepartmental relations.
- Assist with change order preparation and processing, project cost analysis and reporting.
- Delegate responsibilities and authority to subordinates on the Project Team for the planning and execution of the work.
- Thoroughly review contract and all available scope documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Assure that all major and minor equipment and bulk materials have been identified, purchased, delivered, and issued in accordance with the project schedule.
- Prepare subcontract scopes of work, evaluate bids and recommend award.
- Develop an atmosphere of open and honest communication between H+M and Owner, with the goal of excellence in client relationships.
- Participate in constructability reviews with the goal of meeting safety, quality, cost, and schedule commitments.
- Represent company and project team during bid process, project scope development, client meetings and project management meetings.
- Work within company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook and Work Processes, as well as industry standards and regulations.
- Follow written or oral instructions. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management required.
- Minimum 7 years of industrial construction experience with 3 years of direct construction supervision, EPC experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and capable of establishing respect and credibility through actions, communications, understanding and personal presence.
- Ability to work with others to achieve project and company goals.

- Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
Environment: Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical office setting as well as an indoor/outdoor manufacturing setting which includes exposure to outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of typical manufacturing personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective equipment as needed.
