About the role:
WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our Energy team. This role leads National sales and business development activities for WEG's steam turbine systems and for WEG's generator products driven by other types of turbines. This role involves frequent travel, and the ideal candidate would reside near a major airport.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure that sales targets are met for the company's steam turbine systems and generator products.
- Maintain and effectively manage a growing opportunity pipeline.
- Finalize and deliver project proposals, with support from application engineering.
- Generate sales leads; develop and execute targeted sales campaigns; develop project opportunities; collaborate effectively with the company's involved support areas; differentiate the company successfully; negotiate and close project contracts.
- Collaborate with the company's existing sales structures where needed, and where beneficial to the company's other business areas.
- Develop local vendors/partners for auxiliary equipment and services, where desirable and beneficial to the company.
- Strengthen and protect the company's local brand: investigate and participate in relevant conferences, open paths for technical papers, develop and deliver presentations at suitable regional industry events, engage and collaborate with the company's marketing team, share success stories, etc.
- Engage proactively as-needed during and after project execution: provide guidance to involved team members, assist in the resolution of technical and commercial subjects, support great project outcomes.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Business or Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge / training:
- Experience with steam turbines and rotating electric machinery.
- Proven track record of meeting / exceeding sales targets in engineered sales and business-to-business environments.
- Self-motivated, positive, adaptive, and success-seeking mentality.
- Actionable familiarity with North American power generation / conversion markets, with an applicable understanding of relevant industry trends, market dynamics, and client expectations.
Experience:
- 5 years of relevant experience.
