We are hiring an experienced individual contributor level Electrical Engineer to work a long-term consulting role on a customer site in Hagerstown, MD. This is an opportunity to gain experience with a well-known heavy equipment manufacturer in a role that will impact new product development and existing product improvement. This not a desk job. This person will have the opportunity to work in the office, testing facility, and production areas to see their solutions come to life.

SUMMARY
Perform engineering work of various types in the electrical design or re-design, and development of electrical systems into existing and new products. This role will involve design work to improve or customize existing equipment designs based on outside customer needs, quality or cost issues
Exercise independent judgment and action. Will require working closely with customer suppliers, engineering specialists, new product development (R and D) and other departments. This person will provide resource estimates for project planning as well.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for integration of electrical components and circuitry into machine/equipment designs
- Plan and direct engineering in a major project through all phases of innovation and development
- Establishes priorities for work delegated to others
- Work closely with other engineering groups
- Assist in feasibility studies and project estimates on proposed projects
- Support proposal development
- Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specification, and bills of material
- Select parts and/or design components for cost and quality-conscious design to meet service applications
- Consult with suppliers, customers, & members of Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Service, and Testing, Quality Control, and Marketing departments
- Follow project on the assembly floor through initial build and render assistance necessary to support manufacturing and industrial engineering efforts
- Utilize various state-of-the-art engineering tools, i.e. personal computer and CAD equipment
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for completion of a project or part of a project of moderate complexity on time. May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget. May be responsible for managing multiple priorities.
2. Performs more complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to our customer as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
3. Responsible for preparation and delivery of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
4. Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally. May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
5. Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers working on common projects.
6. Research, create, and update standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Proven experience as an individual contributor with regard to electrical system design, development and troubleshooting
Possess a strong electrical knowledge of electrical theory, electrical component and related systems
Ability to read, comprehend, and develop electrical schematics.
Able to use basic testing tools (Oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc) as well as exposure to testing software such as CAN
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience designing and troubleshooting electrical systems on automotive or heavy-duty equipment
