Job description
Job Purpose:
- Provides technical support to Maintenance staff and Production.
- Performs service and preventative maintenance on a variety of automated electro-mechanical equipment.
- Responsible for the installation, service and preventative maintenance of all Production related equipment and proper upkeep of tools, supplies and testing equipment.
- Helps develop strategies and procedures to constantly evolve our preventative maintenance program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Responsible for daily maintenance of production equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve causes of electrical and mechanical malfunctions on all production equipment (including custom automated assembly and packaging machinery).
- Perform high level troubleshooting and repairing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic control systems, PLC, HMI, AC/DC drives, stepper/servo motor controls, machine vision and test systems, ultrasonic welding equipment and control systems.
- Use appropriate test equipment to isolate problems and make repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist in determining inventory quantity levels of machine parts and sourcing.
- Communicate all pertinent information to department's applicable personnel.
- Recommend improvements and optimization of the manufacturing machinery and processes, collaborate with machinery design engineers and machine builders to implement the improvements and modifications.
- Provide leadership for the continuous improvement projects including engineering solutions to eliminate safety and quality concerns, repetitive equipment failures, and to reduce costs.
- Maintain updated drawings, schematics, manuals and control systems backup programs on all production machinery and equipment.
- Adhere to all quality and safety codes specifications and requirements
- Ensure a safe environment is present during equipment repair and maintenance.
- Train operations staff in respect to machine operation and operator level PM.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate, GED, Technical school graduate or equivalent training.
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years of electro-mechanic experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in use of power tools/measuring devices.
- Basic background in general machine shop practices and experience working with high/low voltage (up to 480V) power.
- Read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, lockout/tag out and fall protection.
- Ability to train others as necessary.
