Job Summary

Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Investment Officer, the Senior Investment Officer assists in leading, coordinating and managing investments within the Teachers’ Retirement System Global Income Strategies portfolio.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of overarching investment principles, with a specific focus on areas such as private credit, low duration, core and core plus, emerging market debt, and global multi-sector credit investments. The incumbent should excel in functioning under pressure. The individual holds accountability for overseeing the entire asset class portfolio, including $16.4 billion in assets, with $3 billion of those assets being allocated to diverse and emerging managers. Additionally, the responsibilities encompass assigning and assessing the work of direct reports, conducting annual performance evaluations, and implementing corrective measures when needed, as well as addressing employee concerns and feedback with a thoughtful approach.

The incumbent must be able to work effectively with senior Investments staff and the System’s Board of Trustees, conduct thorough analysis and due diligence on current and prospective investment opportunities, and produce quantifiable portfolio recommendations supported by this research. Superior oral and written communication skills are essential.
