The Administrative Services Department is responsible for internal business within the Orange County Department of Education. Fiscal Services for the Orange County Department of Education include Budget, Accounts Payable - Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. Fiscal Services is also responsible for the Department's General Ledger and acts as liaison with our external auditors for preparation of the Annual Financial Report.
Position Overview: - Budget is responsible for preparing, updating, monitoring, and reporting the Budget for the Orange County Department of Education. OCDE's office of Budget is seeking a knowledgeable professional to serve as Manager, Accounting and Budget Support.
- This professional will coordinate accounting and budget functions within the Administrative Services Division and participate in the development and implementation of budget programs for the Department of Education.
- The incumbent will coordinate activities with other units, divisions, outside agencies and the general public and project and monitor income and expenditures and oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate accounting records on financial and budget transactions for the Department of Education.
- The Manager, Accounting and Budget Support will project and monitor income and expenditures for the Department of Education; prepare tentative, interim, and final budget submissions with established guidelines; review expenditures to ensure compliance.
- Along with, develop individual budgets and estimate incomes for cost centers and programs and project cash flow, review and process budget transfers, and make appropriate changes to cost centers and individual accounts as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, coursework in accounting, finance, business or public administration or related field.
- Four years in competitive finance, budgeting, accounting, or related experience
- Desirable, but not required:
- Public Sector experience
- Analyze and interpret applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
