DESCRIPTION

Incumbent serves as the lead mammography technologist, working under the guidance of the Imaging Manager and Medical Director to provide oversight of the clinical workflow for the Breast Imaging Department. Coordinates technologist staffing and reviews the patient schedule. Participates in department organizational assessment, training and evaluation of staff.

Provides input with technical staff regarding positioning and clinical image evaluation. Works with the Imaging Manager and other staff members to maintain the department mammography records for yearly accreditation by the State and Federal government. Performs screening and diagnostic breast imaging procedures, as well as interventional breast imaging procedures.

Responsible for operational effectiveness in Breast Imaging area with attention to patient flow, customer service, equipment oversight, and quality control guidelines. Serves as a liaison between the radiologists and technologists regarding clinical imaging and associated protocols. Maintains continuing education specific to Breast Imaging.

Demonstrates and applies knowledge of principles of radiation safety. Works closely with the Radiation Physicist to ensure the equipment meets all radiation standards set forth by law. Demonstrates skills and knowledge via competency exams in all Breast Imaging procedures.

Must follow Radiology Imaging protocols and policies. Possesses good communication skills, both verbal and written. Interacts with service representatives and vendors to ensure timely maintenance is performed and contacts appropriate persons when equipment needs to be serviced. Participates in department clinical research projects as indicated by the Manager. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Annual Full Pay Range: $125,948 - $139,061 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $60.32 - $66.60

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
