GE Vernova’s Solar & Storage Solutions business provides technologies in solar energy, battery energy storage, and power plant controls, helping the transition to a cleaner energy future with dispatchable and reliable renewable energy solutions.
Job Description
In the Solar and Storage Solutions team, the successful candidate will be an active contributor supporting GE Vernova's initiatives related to power systems and controls.
As an intern you will:
- Work with the controls teams to review the control algorithm of the product
- Develop high level block diagram of the control system
- Develop simplified models of the control system and test it in different platforms like MATLAB, PSCAD etc
- Develop technical understanding of electrical characteristics of GE Vernova Solar & Storage Solutions power electronics products and their integration to electrical grids.
- Effectively communicate to internal customers by preparing detailed written reports and/or presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.
- Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are prized
Desired Qualifications:
- PhD Candidate prefferred
- D eep understanding of the controls/power concepts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in a full-time graduate program or PhD Candidate in electrical or electric power engineering, controls engineering or related field of study.
- General understanding/awareness of power system and control system concepts
- Understanding of inverter-based electrical equipment
- Must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding).
- Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- Must be willing to work in geographical area specified by the business
Location: Schenectady, NY is the preferred location but open to remote opportunities.
Relocation Assistance:
Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
Housing Allowance:
Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
