SUMMARY OF POSITION: (Process Tech 1) Under general supervision, performs entry level duties and related work as required. The Process Technician focuses on the manufacturing of advanced ceramics, ie: silicon carbide, during the operation of CVD/CVC reactors with the goal of achieving Run Order objectives and customer order requirements as directed by a Research Scientist. Additional responsibilities include plant and support equipment maintenance and calibration routines. SUMMARY OF POSITION: (Process Tech 2) Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled duties and related work as required. The Process Technician focuses on the manufacturing of advanced ceramics, i.e: silicon carbide, during the operation of CVD/CVC reactors with the goal of achieving Run Order objectives and customer order requirements as directed by a Research Scientist. Additional responsibilities include plant and support equipment maintenance and calibration routines. Process Technician 2 can perform all of the entry level duties of the Process Technician 1 position and may be called upon to provide training to new Process Technicians. SUMMARY OF POSITION: (Process Tech 3) Independently performs skilled duties and related work as required. The Lead Process Technician focuses on the manufacturing of advanced ceramics, i.e: silicon carbide, during the operation of CVD/CVC reactors with the goal of achieving Run Order objectives and customer order requirements as directed by a Research Scientist. Additional responsibilities include leading in the training of Process Technician in both job class Process Technician 1 and 2 on support equipment maintenance and calibration routines. Process Technician Job Class 3 can proficiently perform all the duties of the Process Technician 2 position and will be called upon to provide training to other Process Technicians. Lead Process Technicians have successfully passed the certification test as given by ASCM. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparation of the graphite material to support of reactor run orders o Load and unloading of graphite fixtures/removal of deposited SiC material o Pre-startup review of reactor operations through testing and performance assessment to ensure safety of personnel and equipment o Monitor status of reactor and support equipment performance during operation o Provide continuous improvement to written standard operating procedures o Conduct regular maintenance and calibration routines to ensure expected design performance and accuracy of established process gas flow rates o Loading/unloading of material shipments to and from plant using a forklift o Provide detailed shift reporting to ensure a seamless transition to next shift o Maintain efficiency and cleanliness of all work areas

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Competency in writing and Microsoft apps skills are required to record reactor processing. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently team lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally team lift and/or move 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
