Cancellation Policy

Hospital may cancel up to 3 times per contract. Each cancellation could be a full shift or any part of a shift. (Hospital may also pay full hours for a particular shift, in lieu of cancellation).


Unit Notes

- Unit: Tele 4th floor - # beds: 34 - Certs: BLS, ACLS - Ratios: 1 to 4 - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: Yes, each shift--normally do not take patients - Nurse Aides: Yes, but no ratios on the aides - Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends every 4 weeks - Holidays: Same as core staff--work one major, two minors - Scrub Color: Navy - Tele: GE--monitored on a different unit by monitor techs--there are monitors on the unit as well; nurses must be able to read and interpret their own strips - Vents: bi-pap - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: hospitalist in house 24/7 - IV Team: None - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: Yes - Call: None - Shifts: 7a, 7p - Floating: Med surg--travelers float first - Floor specific orientation: If they have Cerner experience they get 2, if no Cerner they get 3 - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Stroke certified so post CVA, r/o CHF, respiratory failure, DM, HTN, non titating drips but will see cardizem etc, titrate heparin only, no insulin drips, post ops, some post cardiac caths, post PCI patients (travelers not assigned cath/PCI patients) - Additional Notes Make sure the travelers are aware that they may not always have a nurse aide and will do primary nursing; the goal is to have aides but not always possible; there is availability for extra shifts at times; will not accommodate BLOCK or set scheduling
