Position Summary:

The Writing Program at Rutgers University seeks to hire two non-tenure track Associate Teaching Professors, each with a specific leadership role. One successful candidate will serve as a Director of Assessment, and the other will serve as Director of Professional Development. We expect to appoint qualified candidates to an initial renewable three-year term. Subsequent contracts are eligible for longer terms, and there are opportunities for promotion to higher ranks. Candidates should possess a record of innovative and collaborative leadership experience in writing studies, as well as a strong record of professional engagement and teaching in these or related fields.

The Director of Assessment will teach two courses per year and be responsible for the ongoing assessment of the effectiveness of instruction in the various courses offered by the Writing Program.

The Director of Professional Development will teach two courses per year and develop programs (workshops, seminars, symposia, etc.) to support the ongoing professionalization of the instructors in the Writing Program.

We are seeking to appoint Directors who can work closely with the leadership of the program and establish collegial models for ongoing assessment, assist in the development of curricular innovation leveraged on current best practices, and support the development of a diverse and vibrant faculty. Directors will participate in strategic and operational planning and report to both the Executive Director and the Director of the Writing Program, which is part of the Department of English. Position Duties


Salary range: $85,000-$100,000. All job offers are contingent upon successful pre-employment background screening prior to commencement of employment.
