Industrial Engineer - Ergonomist

Ergonomist (approximately 50%)

Impact a positive safety culture by developing and maintaining relationships across the plant in efforts to reduce strain and sprain injuries.

Implement and co-administer the National UAW-GM Ergonomics Agreement and process in collaboration with UAW partners.

Serve as the Workplace Safety System (WSS) champion for the ergonomics Performance Standard (PS 8).

Lead and facilitate formal and informal injury reduction initiatives through data analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Act as the subject matter expert in the field of Ergonomics and provide technical support to all plant functions/operations.

Conduct first and second-level ergonomic risk analysis for current and future states.

Material IE (approximately 50%)

Manage changes to safely develop, recommend, and implement improvements that drive the elimination of waste.

Collect and analyze data to assess risks and solve problems, monitoring progress towards key business goals.

Execute Lean Material Strategies (LMS) and leverage GM's Global Manufacturing System (GMS) to continuously improve plant material flow.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and execute automation programs and processes that improve supply chain, warehousing, and material flow.

Utilize time studies and simulations to create workforce plans that ensure resources are properly allocated and utilized.

Provide technical support and assistance to manufacturing and maintenance team members, production supervisors, and production associates.

Perform additional assignments/tasks as necessary and appropriate within the Industrial Engineering group.

Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Build relationships and lead with influence across a large diverse organization

Effectively handle multiple complex projects while consistently meeting established timelines

Possess a high level of analytical ability & problem solving where problems are unusual and difficult

Collaborate across all plant functions and effectively manage change

Experience in ergonomic principles, risk factors, and analytical tools

Knowledge of Lean Material Strategies (LMS) principles

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related experience

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Experience with GM IE tools GMOS, APS, STDS

Knowledge of AMR/AGV material handling systems

AutoCAD or similar

OpEx or DMAIC related experience
