Pay: $66,000-72,000
Position Overview
The Education Programs Manager is responsible for leading the development and delivery of informal education and learning experiences at Kidspace. This includes programs that serve schools (such as field trips and school group visits), day camps, and scouts. This position manages one direct report and seasonal indirect reports and is expected to lead and collaborate across the museum team to ensure we deliver quality programming .
This is a full-time, exempt position based in Pasadena, California. Kidspace is a hybrid workplace, with some weekends and evenings required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive the planning and implementation of education programs. Collaborate with the museum team to develop and deliver the suite of programs aimed at supporting schools and teachers, seasonal camps, and scouts.
- Lead intra- and cross-team communication and projects. Take ownership and initiative to keep planning on track. Build and improve foundational systems and practices to keep programs running smoothly. Cultivate internal best practices that support creating and executing education programs with our team and guests.
- Build a suite of high-quality, engaging educational programming . Lead the development of curriculum and programs that complement and amplify the work of teachers and scout leaders, and support museum initiatives. Develop and deliver training for staff responsible for facilitating programs. Model and coach facilitation strategies that invite and engage close looking and dialogue.
- Be a museum leader. Directly supervise the Education Programs Supervisor and indirect seasonal hires. Support and collaborate with the Floor Operations team, who support the delivery and facilitation of programming. Contribute to museum initiatives, participate in cross-team planning, and act as a rotating Proxy Onsite Manager.
- Implement data collection for ongoing evaluation and assessment. Continually evaluate and assess education program experiences and programs. Report on outcomes and lead the iterative process to align programs with goals outcomes, program objectives, and institutional values.
- Actively foster and maintain partnerships. Build relationships with school districts, organizations, and colleagues in the field to support and inform programming and experiences.
- Actively contributes to our culture of inclusivity, welcome, collaboration, and play.

Minimum Job Requirements
- At least four (4) years of experience working in education and informal learning, including program and curriculum development and facilitation.
- Training in the field of education (formal or informal), learning theory and practice, and experience leading art, music, or nature-based education and learning experiences a plus.
- Experience leading or supervising a team.
- Competency using digital devices and applications.
- Outstanding proficiency in oral and written English language communication
- Willingness and ability to work (with reasonable accommodation) in an outdoor environment. Kidspace is a largely outdoor facility, and exposure to outdoor elements, including inclement and hot, sunny weather, is required.
- Physically able to (with reasonable accommodation) reach, bend, crouch, twist, push, and/or pull up to 40 lbs, and lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs.
