The Henrico County Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is a large, advanced wastewater treatment facility designed to treat an average of 75 million gallons-per-day. The WRF utilizes physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes, including enhanced nutrient removal, to achieve compliance with applicable environmental permit limitations. The WRF site is approximately 75 acres, and is located in Varina, in the eastern portion of Henrico County.
General Statement of Duties Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, March 25, 2024.
Assists the Division Director with the administration and management of a large and complex division's core and support operations, functions, programs, other activities, resource management and staff; performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties This position is responsible for overseeing the Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering sections of the Water Reclamation Facility (WRF).
Primary job duties to include:
- Day-to-day management of the operation and maintenance of the WRF.
- Training and employee development for employees in all assigned programs.
- Budget development and management for assigned programs.
- Short-term and long-term planning, development, and management of WRF equipment and assets to ensure continuous operations and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Development, implementation and revision of maintenance and wastewater treatment best management practices.
- Management of all information Technology systems to support assigned programs; and
- Management of all required regulatory reporting to demonstrate Facility compliance and document performance.
Minimum Qualifications Four (4) year degree in a field relevant to the assigned division preferred, relevant engineering degree preferred and three (3) years of experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience, relevant to the assigned division, OR: any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information This position reports to Henrico Water Reclamation Facility in Varina, located at 9101 WRVA Road in Varina. Possession of a Class I, Virginia Wastewater Operator Certification or attainment of such certification within one (1) year from date of employment.
Possession of a valid driver's license required for the operation of a county vehicle.
No felony convictions preferred, any felony convictions must be disclosed and must comply Virgina Code Section 18 VAC 160-30-60.
