BLANK AST 3 (Student Services Coordinator) Department Description
The Chemistry Department is a large and complex academic and research department located in the College of Letters and Science. The department has state and extramural funds with expenditures of approximately $28M annually including $8M in organized research. There are 29 staff members, 41 senate faculty, 4 continuing lecturers, many Federation appointees, Emeritus Faculty, Postdocs, Pre-Six Lecturers, 250 graduate students, and 750 undergraduate majors.
Job Summary
Working under the general direction of the Student Services Supervisor, the Student Services Coordinator provides support to the student services team, coordinates the instructional/curriculum program, assigns teaching assistants, assists with student recruitment events, coordinates textbook acquisition, course evaluations, and meeting room schedules. This position operates with a high degree of organization and attention to detail. Responsibilities include following university regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to academic administration and budget monitoring. Qualified candidates will be highly organized, technically savvy, detail oriented, and possess strong communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Physical Demands: Sit at computer and use mouse and keyboard for long periods of time.
- Lifting Requirements: Lift, move, and carry boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - Work in a demanding environment with multiple competing deadlines and frequent interruptions.

- Experience providing administrative and project management support to administrators.
- Experience writing and editing documents and correspondence for accuracy, consistency of format and grammar, and professional appearance and style.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and online databases. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Demonstrate high degree of attention to detail with ability to recognize discrepancies and make appropriate and accurate corrections.
- Organizational skills to work independently including initiative and ability to set priorities; ability to organize work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects.
- Interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively interact with people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds, in person and in writing; ability to clarify situations and resolve problems; ability to exercise tact and diplomacy, especially to resolve disagreements and conflicts. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience with UC policies, procedures, and systems including Banner, IPA, and DESII. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Knowledge of academic programs, requirements, and educational options.
- Knowledge and skill to interpret and apply UC and campus policies and procedures, especially pertaining to academic affairs and curriculum coordination.
- Familiarity with campus-wide offices, administrative contacts, campus structures, policies, and resources.
