Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to join our team and focus on our Memory Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with seniors, particularly those with memory impairments, and will be dedicated to creating a stimulating and nurturing environment. If you have experience in planning and implementing activities that enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the needs and preferences of residents in the Memory Care Unit.
- Plan and coordinate a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities to promote cognitive stimulation, physical well-being, and social engagement.
- Collaborate with the care team to understand the individual needs and abilities of each resident and adjust activities accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of residents' participation in activities and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
- Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages resident involvement and a sense of community.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a senior living environment, specifically with residents in Memory Care.
- Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as well as an understanding of therapeutic approaches to support individuals with memory impairments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging and meaningful activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
Education and Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in activities coordination or therapeutic recreation.
